Core Consulting Group (CCG) was engaged by one of the Australia’s largest cemetery trusts. Providing final care for families, it develops and operates cemeteries across Melbourne. Our client was responsible for planning and delivery of various services across a number of locations. With a significant capital works program, through independent review they recognised the need to implement basic project governance and a project management framework to support their project delivery capability.
CCG were engaged to work with the client to develop and implement a basic Project Management Framework, process flow diagrams, standardised terminology, stage gating for decisions, standardised reporting incl KPIs, training and briefings for stakeholders and facilitating gathering basic requirements for a future Enterprise Project Management system using our Concept of Operations approach.
After approximately 18 months of use, CCG was once again engaged to improve on the framework. Having the benefit of time and use, our client was in a much better position to know what they needed, what needed to change and where they needed more. Through a series of structured interviews with stakeholders, consensus was gained on the changes required. CCG was then able to modify the framework and associated guides to suit. By that time an EPM tool had been chosen by the client, so although not involved with the implementation we still offered advice and support from a framework perspective.
It was pleasing to be involved over the longer term and to see improvements in governance as a result of our work. CCG was part of our client’s capability maturity growth and will hopefully continue on that journey in the future.
