Core Consulting Group (CCG) was engaged by one of Australia’s largest Telecommunications providers. Our client offered a range of services as well as providing core network infrastructure. They had initiated a strategically important program relating to structural separation. A complex program it involved many business units, resources across the organisation as well as a schedule with a firm deadline.
The organisation’s finance and schedule processes and standards existed but required refinement and improvement to reflect the Program structure and to deliver efficiency. CCG was engaged in the role as a result of their reputation and knowledge in PMO services within other Telstra departments. We set up business rules and tools for the management and tracking of systems, projects, their status and other required attributes performing status updates through collaboration with the Stream Leads.
CCG adapted the finance and schedule processes and standards into a new Framework then supported Stream Leads to deliver using these standards. Processes, tools and standards were also set up for the management and tracking of resources via a Resourcing Requirements tool.
CCG was a key enabler to the integration of each of the aspects of the PMO including; Finances, Risks, Issues, Schedules, and Change Requests to ensure that all members of the PMO had end to end visibility.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Schedule – high level and detail
- Financials – budget, actual, forecast
- Issues, Risk and Change control
- Integrated reporting
