Core Consulting Group (CCG) was engaged by one the Victorian State Government departments responsible for planning and community development. The majority of their projects involved providing research, policy and planning advice, administer legislation and regulations, investment in infrastructure and services and advocating for the needs of key population groups.
Our client was standardising and improving it’s delivery processes and was keen for affected stakeholders to be trained in not only the new “Project Plan” template but the key aspects of “how to plan”.
CCG were experts in planning, realising plans can be represented not just by Gantt charts using tools like MS Project but through charts, tables, lists and white boards. Through this realisation, and knowing more about the group they needed to train, CCG tailored a training course which combined generic content with client specific process and policy content, aimed at producing a quality planning document artefact.
CCG structured the course around the following key components:
- Scoping the project (incl governance and objectives)
- Estimating cost
- Assessing Risk
- Finalising the document
Participants provided positive feedback and the client was extremely happy with the outcome, so much so they extended the engagement to provide additional courses to other stakeholders.
Key elements of the solution included:
- Consultation, research and discussion
- Customised training course preparation and delivery
