The Security Operations area within Telstra had limited experience with managing large projects and did not have the required project management skills and experience in-house to confidently “manage” the project. A member of the Security Operation Management team had been on the Steering Committee for another project that the project manager had managed and recommended that the PM be engaged to manage the Telstra Access Governance Project. Responsibility for delivering the solution was outsourced to a 3rd party vendor and the key responsibility of the Project Manager was to ensure the quality and scope of the vendors’ deliverables
Core Consulting Group was able to bridge the project management gap and provide the project management, governance and support skills required to manage the project.
The Project is still in progress and is expected to be completed by the end of May 2012. The client continues to benefit from the project management skills provided by Core Consulting Group enabling the Security Operations team to concentrate on their core function of protecting Telstra’s information security.
