Being integrated, Origin has diverse operations spanning across the energy supply chain; from gas exploration and production to power generation and energy retailing. With over 4.4 Million customers, Origin is the largest energy retailer and also has significant power generation capacity

    The Retail Emissions Program was established to address the implications of the Federal Government’s Clean Energy Legislation and specifically, it’s Carbon Pricing Mechanism for Origin Energy’s commercial, residential, small and medium enterprise retail market, including recently acquired entities. The Program’s primary objective was to ensure compliance and readiness from a system, process and people perspective. This engagement included a traditional Scheduling and Planning function as well as a lead role in delivery management. The role of Program Integration Lead provided the interface between Origin Energy and three smaller energy retail businesses recently acquired and included a traditional Scheduling and Planning function as well as a lead role in delivery management.

    In the role as Program Integration Lead, Core Consulting Group negotiated an effective solution to a difficult problem whereby the current IT solution was incompatible with the legacy systems of the acquired businesses. The acquired entities could not implement a comparable technical solution to fulfil a late regulatory requirement, with which non-compliance would have resulted in a multi-million dollar potential liability.
    In the Role of Project Scheduler Core Consulting Group was able to drive weekly team meetings and prepare high quality weekly reporting, ensuring that all key milestones and deliverables were delivered as expected and all key stakeholders were engaged.

    Thinking creatively, Core Consulting Group suggested a non-technical solution involving pre-printed billing stationery and phased roll-out of a sustainable technical solution. The approach was endorsed and deployed, resulting in regulatory compliance and avoidance of sanctions and commercial liability.
