Orica – Global HR Management System project
Orica is the largest provider of commercial explosives and blasting systems to the mining and infrastructure markets, the global leader in the provision of ground support in mining and tunnelling, and the leading supplier of sodium cyanide for gold extraction. Orica also supplies general chemicals across a diverse range of markets, including agriculture, building and construction, food and beverage, pharmaceutical and personal care, plastics, pulp and paper and water treatment industries.

Orica engaged Core Consulting Group to assist with the Project Management of a newly scoped project to roll out SAP’s mySAP HR module across all 45 countries where Orica had board control. The project involved significant integration to numerous payroll systems including outsourced SAP payroll systems as well as multi language support. Orica brought in Core Consulting Group once the project was formally approved and we remained throughout the project right through to rollout and closure.

Core Consulting Group provided the Project Management function through the efforts of Martin Vaughan. Martin helped establish the Project Steering Committee, documented and gained sign off of the Project Charter, the Project Management Plan and the Business Requirements. Once requirements were well understood, Martin assisted Orica to source and select a technical implementation partner, change management specialist, technical documentation support and test management support. Working closely with the Technical implementation partner (Supply Chain), Martin led the project team to deliver the project within the approved budget, within the required time frames and to the agreed requirements.

Throughout the project Core Consulting Group also provided support services from time to time including Project Administrator and Test Management support.

Orica have recognised the project as unique in terms of the successful delivery within the timeframes and budget along with the focus of the team on managing the change and communications.
