Biota Holdings Limited – Program Management

Biota Holdings Limited a leading anti-infective drug development company that has delivered inhibitors for the effective treatment and prevention of influenza. Changes to Biota’s marketing strategy have meant being able to provide more coordination and governance to the entire clinical development process, not just drug development, through to registration with key global drug authorities. An opportunity arose for Biota to issue a proposal for a full end-to-end project for clinical development and Core Consulting Group was brought in to close a gap in key project management skills, in particular earned value analysis.

Core Consulting Group quickly assessed the requirements of the proposal and informally assessed the internal project management skills that existed to support the program management role during the development of detailed project management and an earned value management system. Biota came to understand through the skills used during the proposal development the complete skill set for project management and made appropriate changes to their project management structure internally and reviewed current position descriptions to ensure that incumbents have appropriate training for industry alignment. Core Consulting Group has implemented an earned value management system and robust risk management framework. Work continues to provide an industry aligned project management framework for larger programs of work.

The client has gained a better understanding in the skill requirements to manage larger, more complex programs of work and has commenced a program for staff development and recruitment to maximise their potential to gain access to larger projects in the marketplace.
