Toll – PMO Implementation and Improvement
Skills – Process Design and Implementation
Toll Corporate IT selected iProject (now known as Bijingo) Enterprise Project Management reporting tool as the basis of a newly implemented PMO. Toll Corporate IT was seeking to implement a governance framework for managing all IT related projects, sought visibility of performance of projects underway, wanted the ability to predict and manage their shared resource pool and also prioritise new projects once they were approved. The iProject (Bijingo) tool provided full enterprise reporting capability and had been chosen after a successful pilot. Implementation included integration to Microsoft Project for planning and included internal hosting initially.
Core Consulting Group was engaged to provide the Change Management aspects of the implementation. The role commenced with developing and rolling out a consistent Project Management methodology, assisting with template and intranet development and providing advice on the governance framework including steering committees. At the same time Core Consulting Group assisted with the more technical aspects of iProject implementation such as Coding & Structures design, report specification, tool training and testing of enhancements.
After the successful completion of the first scope of work, Core Consulting Group was asked to conduct Project Management training for their Project Management group which included many aspects of Project Management such as Planning and Risk Management as well as soft skills such as leadership and communication. The training role included coaching, quality assurance support and developing an internal mentoring program for Project Managers. Core Consulting Group’s final scope of work for Toll was the development of a “whole of Toll” PMO strategy which was provided to the CIO for his consideration.
Core Consulting Group’s work lifted the Corporate IT Project Management capability from an “ad-hoc” to a consistent, managed and improving capability.
