Executive focused

½ day course covering:

  • Introduction/overview, includes discussion of “why bother” and differentiating project from program and portfolio governance
  • Roles and responsibilities and gates explained simply
    • Focus on the “should we” decisions
    • Who approves what, especially a new project (investment)
    • What does a gate mean – finish the previous stage or start the next
  • Role play, group is a “Project board”.  Presented using a hypothetical project (note terminology of gates should be aligned to client organisation)
    • At initiation gate
    • At end of design gate
    • In progress (eg a Status report)
    • Prior to go live gate
  • Portfolio governance
    • Decisions made and input data needed throughout the life cycle of projects
    • Integration to investment management and financial governance
    • Project selection and relative priorities
