We left Melbourne in the morning, with some of us car pooling, and stopped off at Oddfellows in Colac for a team meeting and lunch. The staff there were very accommodating, the food fantastic and the venue is a beautifully restored historical “Independent Order of Odd Fellows” building.
Then we drove along the windy roads of the Otways to the Otway Fly for some ziplining adventure through the tree tops. Though it rained as we walked down to the first cloud station, the clouds cleared for us to fly through the tree tops in relative comfort. All the fun off a flying fox with the comfort of a full body harness. We all left the Fly smiling and a few of us stacked up on souvenirs from the gift shop.
Another drive along some more windy roads to Lorne lead us through the rain forest and down to the great ocean road and it’s picturesque views.
We checked in at the Cumberland Lorne Resort where the rooms were bigger than my first apartment and each room contained a spa bath much to our delight. The complimentary hot chocolate drink and cookies were very much appreciated. The ladies at the front desk were helpful and the venue had provided us with a private room for breakfast the next morning.
Dinner was at the Maple Tree Restaurant, a venue that prides itself on sourcing local produce and creating interesting and tasty dishes. The Saltbush and lemon “chips” were morish, the quail and pork belly entrées were delicious most of the table ordered the beef tenderloin with dauphinoise potato and braised leek, I heard the chicken puttanesca was very tasty too. Desert went down a treat with everyone enjoying their individual dishes.
After a such a long day it was nice to curl up in my heated room and drift off to sleep.
I look forward to project planning the next one.
